Carrie A. Pelzer
Carrie A. Hayden Pelzer, 90, of Greensboro, died Sunday, December 15, 1991, in Greene County
Memorial Hospital.
She was born November 20, 1901, in Greensboro, a daughter of A.J. and Ann Eliza Shank Hayden.
Mrs. Pelzer was the oldest member of First Baptist Church of Greensboro. She also was a member of the
ladies auxiliary of the Greensboro-Monongahela Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are five grandchildren, Carrie Vial, KathyZieglear, Carol Miller, Connie Kerestes and William
Pelzer; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Deceased is her husband, William Pelzer, who died in 1961; two sons, William, who died in 1972, and
Frank, who died in 1979; a brother; and two sisters.
She was the last of her immediate family. (newspaper source unknown)

William E. Pelzer, 62 years, lockmaster at Lock No. 7, Greensboro, died Friday, December 1, 1961, in
Greene County Memorial Hospital. He had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage while attending a meeting of the Greensboro Volunteer Fire Company. Mr. Pelzer was a son of Joseph and Eugenia Jagues Pelzer, and was born September 18, 1899, in Charleroi. He had resided at Greensboro 42 years. Mr.. Pelzer was a charter member of Greensboro Fire Company, which was organized in 1928, and served as fire chief for 15 years. more recently he served three years as president of the company and was a member of the board of directors. Mr. Pelzer was also one of the men instrumental in organizing the Southwestern Pennsylvania Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs Association and was a past president of the association. He also served as a director of the fire school which the association holds each year. Mr. Pelzer was also a past president of the Greene County Firemen's Association and served as a director of the annual Greene County Fire School, which he helped start a number of years ago. Funeral services were held Monday in the Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, conducted by Rev. Willard Everett. Interment in Monongahela Hill Cemetery (Democrat Messenger 7 Dec. 1961)
