Notes for Ann Elizabeth Shank
The information for Ann's birthplace, marriage location and parents' names come from FAYETTE CTY. VITAL RECORDS, 1750-1890 database on
ancestry.com. This information may be wrong, though, since it lists her name as Shank, Anna L. and birthdate as 1866. However, her spouse is listed as A. J. Hayden.
The 1880 census lists Ann's birth year as 1865
Ann Eliza is living with the Pelzer family in the 1940 census.

Mrs. Henry Hayden
Mrs. Ann Eliza Shank Hayden, aged 75 years, widow of Henry Hayden, died Thursday afternoon Sept. 19
at four o'clock, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carrie Pelzer, of Greensboro.
Mrs. Hayden was born at New Geneva, a daughter of Henry and Hannah Springer Shank, deceased. She
spent her entire life in the New Geneva and Greensboro communities where she was well-known and highly respected, being active in the work of the church. Her husband died a number of years ago. She was a member of the Greensboro Baptist Church.
Surviving are three children, Herman Hayden, of Niles, Ohio, and Mrs. Fannie Herrington and Mrs. Carrie Pelzer of Greensboro. Three sisters, Mrs. Rachel Anderson, Mrs. Emma Cleavenger and Mrs. Elizabeth Eberhart, of New Geneva, along with 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive. (Democrat Messenger, Waynesburg, PA, September 21, 1940)
(The name Henry Hayden is obviously an error)
Notes for Adaniram Judson (Spouse 1)
Found his picture in a book about pottery. I bought it. He is called Jud Hayden in the picture.
The 1900 census of Greensboro, Greene Cty., PA lists the following: Adaniram born July 1854, potter; Anna E. born December 1864, wife; Eva born October 1885; Fannie S born. February 1887; Herman R. born May 1895. Number of years married for Judson and Anna is 16 years. All can read, write and speak English. All are listed as being born in PA as were their parents. Census was enumerated on June 1, 1900.
In the book, "Stoneware of Southwestern Pennsylvania" by Phil Schaltenbrand, there is a group photo (page 154) of potters from the Hamilton and Jones firm. Jud Hayden is in the front row holding young Earl Rumble. County Death Records list Judson's cause of death as lung & throat trouble with a duration of 2 months. The same records list his occupation as 'Huxter'.

A. J. HAYDEN
(From our Greensboro correspondent)
A. J. Hayden died at his home in Greensboro, Pa., Aug. 17, aged about 52 years. For some time he had been in failing health. He was held in high esteem by all and was a faithful member of the Baptist church, being superintendent of the Sunday School for several years. He will be greatly missed as he was always at his post of duty in the work of the church. He leaves a wife and four children surviving. Funeral was held on Thursday, Rev. Horace Stron officiating. Interment in Monongahela Hill cemetery. (Waynesburg Republican, August 24, 1905)
Note: Tombstone gives date of death as August 15, 1905 and newspaper article reports date as August 17, 1905. Not sure which is correct.
