I have a picture of Eva and she was beautiful. Her son looked like her. She was working in the family store one winter when she took sick, I believe with TB. Charles was only about 3 when she died.
Marriage announcement::
The marriage of Mr. Charles Barb of Mapletown and Miss Eva Hayden at the residence of her mother, Mrs. Eliza (Shank) Hayden at Walnut & Fourth Streets, took place on Saturday, June 19, 1909 at high noon. The ceremony was by Rev. Frank M. Patterson. The bride is a member of the Baptist church and one of Greensboro's best girls. Charley is a successful merchant of Mapletown. Those present were Misses Sarah & Louise Shelby of Morgantown and many others who were the immediate relatives of the bride and groom. In the afternoon they drove to Pt. Marion and took the train for Mountain Lake Park. (Newspaper soource unknown)

Eva Hayden is a 6th great ganddaughter of John Alden and Priscilla Mullins, Mayflower passengers. She is also related to Presidents John Adams and his son John Quincy Adams. Haydentown, PA is named after her great grandfather, John Hayden.

MRS. CHARLES BARB
Eva Hayden Barb, wife of Charles A. Barb, died at Mapletown, Greene county, Wednesday morning, July
15, 1914, and was buried in the Monongahela Hill cemetery Friday afternoon, July 17. Eva Hayden Barb was the oldest child of Judson Hayden, deceased, and Ann Eliza Shank Hayden, of Greensboro, Greene county. Eva Hayden was born October 17, 1885. She and Charles A. Barb were united in marriage June 19, 1909. Mrs. Barb united with the Greensboro Baptist church December (date unreadable). She always took an active part in church work and since her marriage had taught a Sabbath school class in the Methodist Episopal church at Mapletown. Mrs. Barb possessed a lovely character and kind disposition. Her life, while of a few years, was full of good deeds and kind acts. Funeral services were conducted at her late residence at Mapletown by Rev. John Sherman, of the Whiteley Baptist church, and was largely attended by relatives and friends. She leaves to survive her, one son, Charles A. Barb, Jr., and husband, Charles A. Barb, and mother Mrs. Hayden; two sisters and one brother. (Waynesburg Republican, July 23, 1914)

Lifelong and prominent resident of Mapletown dies suddenly Monday morning at age of 57 years. FUNERAL ON WEDNESDAY
Mapletown, Oct. 23 - Charles A. Barb Sr., lifelong and prominent resident of Mapletown, Greene County, died Monday morning, October 23, 1939 at 8 o'clock, death being caused by a cerebral hemorrhage which occurred last Wednesday. Mr. Barb was 57 years of age is survived by his wife, Nina M. Barb, and three sons, Charles A., Jr., Miller and Ewing Barb; also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Lillian sons, Charles A., Jr., Miller and Ewing Barb; also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Lillian Gapen, Mrs. Minnie B. Minor, William H. Barb, Lamar G. Barb and Mrs. Ethel Donham all of Mapletown and vicinity and L. Arthur Barb, of Morgantown, W. Va.; also two grandchildren, Mervin Lee and Eva Louise Barb, children of Charles A. Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted at his home at Mapletown, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Burial will be in the Monongahela Hill Cemetery. (Democrat Messenger, October 24, 1939)
